Creating Happiness Series (Post 3)

Before we begin, let’s start with a quick recap …

Posts 1 and 2 from this series focused on pleasant event scheduling and planning for satisfaction.

In very simple terms, if you do more of what brings you joy and more of what provides a sense of accomplishment, you’ll enjoy more happiness and satisfaction.

It’s supported by decades of research AND I can vouch for it because it’s worked for me!

But now, let’s move on to something that’s less focused on the future and more focused on the now … gratitude.

I’m sure you’ve all heard of gratitude practice and that’s because … it’s relatively easy but potentially very effective in creating more positive emotions. Planning for the future is great, but living in and being thankful for the here and now is also highly valuable.

Ask yourself, then …

  • what’s going well?
  • what’s good in my life?
  • what’s bad and NOT in my life?
  • who’s in my life that I appreciate?
  • where do I find appreciation in what I do, where I live and who I interact with?

Gratitude practice sounds easy, and it mostly is; but don’t underestimate what it can provide for you if you integrate it into your daily living, consistently.
