04 Feb Friday afternoon tips for happiness this weekend
It’s Friday afternoon; you are, no doubt, starting to think about the weekend. If you’re anything like us here at The Happiness Institute you’re also probably thinking about how to have the most fun and maximise your happiness this coming Saturday and Sunday. So, if you want more happiness this weekend? Read below for some practical tips from Dr. Happy…
- Be present for you loved ones; and I mean really present. Look at them, listen to them, be with them
- To assist with this, rurn off TV, computer, laptop, iPad, Blackberry or whatever devices and gadgets you typically use for a few hours; for most of us, there’s nothing that can’t wait an hour or two (or maybe even a day or two!)
- Do something that will make you laugh; watch a funny movie, check out some jokes on the internet, do something intentionally silly…or just laugh for no reason!
- Have a meaningful conversation with your partner, child, a relative and/or a friend; and I don’t mean a superficial chat about the weather or sport or what you’re doing next week…I mean a meaningful discussion about something that’s important to you and them
- Get active; go for a walk or a run or a swim or a bike ride; throw a ball or a frisbie; enjoy some fresh air and nature and trees and grass
- practice appreciation and gratitude; write down and/or talk to your family and friends about things in your life for which you’re grateful
