Nothing is permanent and so …

Nothing is permanent and so …

At the heart of Buddhism is an undeniable truth; that nothing is permanent.

As such, much of our suffering comes from attachment to that which is destined to change, to disappear.

Letting go of that attachment, accepting impermanence and change and loss, can reduce suffering and allow for more happiness and other positive emotions.

And so, because nothing is permanent …

… when times are tough, remember that this too shall pass

… when times are good, remember to savour and cherish every moment

… when you’re with loved ones, know that they won’t always be present or available, and so be present and available for and with them, in that moment

Nothing is permanent but that doesn’t mean nothing is real. Suffering is real, but it won’t last forever. Happiness is real, and should not be taken for granted. Accept all this and welcome in a greater peace of mind.
