01 Apr Possible lessons from a long weekend
It’s Monday morning here in Sydney Australia and most of us are wrapping up the final 24 hours of a long weekend (including Good Friday and Easter Monday).
I’m well aware many of you might have had to work, or have been busy with family or religious or other activities, but at the same time, I’m also aware that for many of us, it’s been a few days that’s included a bit more rest and relaxation than normal.
If you’re one of these, who’s slept a bit more and rested a bit more … how do you feel now?
Do you feel calmer and happier, maybe even more energised in a healthy way?
If you do, then I invite you to pause for a minute or so and imagine … what if you felt like this ALL the time? Or at least, more of the time?
Because that’s how we should feel! We should feel rested more often than not and we should prioritise sleep and rest more often than not.
But sadly, and unhealthily, too many in our society prioritise too many things over and above rest and recovery which are too often seen as luxuries or even, wastes of time.
But it’s hard to be happy if you’re sick and tired. Happiness requires healthy living, which includes sleep and rest.
If happiness and wellbeing are priorities, then so too should be sleep and rest and recovery and relaxation!
So, if you are feeling better today, after a restful weekend, then ask yourself … how can you experience and enjoy this more often?
Because if you find a way to do so, you’ll be making a way to enjoy more happiness and positivity in your life more often which surely, is something we’d all want.
