Who and what matters? You tell me!

Who and what matters? You tell me!

If everything matters, nothing matters. If everyone matters, no one matters.

You can’t give your everything to everything, or to everyone.

You can’t even care about all that’s deserving of care, or all who’re deserving of attention.

It’s just not possible. And trying, is just setting yourself up for failure and disappointment and … maybe worse.

But the good news is there’s a solution.

You can (and need to) CHOOSE who and what matters. It doesn’t necessarily mean other issues or people don’t matter; just that they don’t matter (as much) to you (at this point in time) because you only have so much capacity.

Empathy, love, compassion … they’re all fantastic. But they all also have limits and need boundaries.

Putting such boundaries in place isn’t selfish, it’s sensible (and healthy).

So choose who matters. Choose what matters. Keep the list realistically small and stick to it as best you can.

I guarantee, it’s worth the effort!
