02 Dec Are you doing what you want/need to do? And what it’s like to try something new …
So, on the weekend I did something new.
As I posted on my Instagram page (HERE) …
So, I just spent the weekend doing an introductory to furniture making. And I came away with a cool coffee / side table!
But in reality, I came away with much more; including these few “life lessons” I thought might be worth sharing …
- It’s great trying new things. It’s hard, but it’s exciting and stimulating and invigorating
- If you are trying new things you’ll make mistakes. But I learned that almost all mistakes are fixable. Especially if you reach out and ask for help because …
- There’s always help available. I had two fantastic instructors in my woodworking course, and I know there are “instructors” in almost every area of life!
And then today, I shared this post with these questions on my Instagram …
Is what you’re doing working for you? Is it helping you be who you want to be? To live the life you want to live?
If not, what one change could you make?
All of which, I believe, comes together as a nice end of year reflection. As we head into December and start to think about 2025, I invite you to think about whether you (1) want more of the same, or (2) something different.
If you decide on the former, then that’s great. But if you decide on the latter, it might be worth setting aside some time to plan what you want to do differently. As you do so, remember that it’s not always easy to make changes, even positive ones, but the lessons I noted above are relevant to pretty much anyone and any area of life!
