24 Nov Focus is everything
You feel what you focus on.
By that, I mean your emotions are a direct result of the target of your attention.
What you focus on literally determines whether you feel more positive or negative emotions, whether you enjoy more happiness, or more fear and distress.
And the good news is that you can CHOOSE, at any point in time, where you direct your attention and so, what I’d recommend, is that you …
- focus more on what’s going well, and less on what’s not
- focus more on those who show you love and appreciation, and less on those who don’t
- focus more on your strengths and attributes, and less on your weaknesses and failings
- focus more on your dreams, and less on your fears
- focus more on what’s within your control and …
… I think you probably get the idea. But I think you also probably realise that like many things in life, it’s easier said than done.
It’s OK, then, to not get it right all the time; and it’s OK, then, to not feel OK all the time. Just keep trying, reminding yourself that practice makes better, and be gentle with yourself along the way.
