11 Sep The benefits of supporting a great cause
I recently wrote this piece for an eNewsletter my friends over at batyr send out regularly to their top supporters and corporate partners. But I also support and give my time to ReLove and I could say exactly the same about them!
As you read this, think about what a “great cause” is or would be for you. What issues are you passionate about, and who’s doing great work in that area?
OK, with that said and done, let’s go …
If you’re reading this then you’re already, in some way or other supporting batyr. And if my assumption is correct, then you probably have your reason(s) for doing so.
All of which is great, and as part of the wider batyr team, I’d like to thank you very much!
But as someone who’s not just supported batyr for many years now but also, someone who’s studied the many and varied benefits that come from supporting what we might simply call a “good cause”, I’ve become aware that many good people aren’t fully aware of how much good they can get out of their doing good!
And so, today, I thought I’d share with you just a few of the benefits that come from supporting a purpose driven organisation like batyr with the hope that you might gain even more from your giving.
For me, just a few of the many gifts I receive as a result of being part of the batyr community are:
– Feeling part of a wonderful and inspirational community
– Knowing that I’m making a difference in an area (mental health awareness) that has huge significance to me personally
– Happiness, and satisfaction. Because when I do good, I feel good
– A sense of usefulness
– And the feeling that I’m setting a good example of “service” for my children
You may well have experienced some or all of these, and maybe even some other great things as well. And you may well be aware of all you’re gaining from giving. But if not, take a moment to reflect upon not just how you’re supporting batyr but also, how your support of batyr supports your wellbeing and happiness. Because in giving, we receive, and I hope you’re mindful of all the good things you’re receiving for your good giving.
