What do enjoying the journey, finding purpose, and seeing friends in person have to do with breaking out of a rut? Read on to find out …

There are so many aspects to what we might call happiness, or what more properly would be called wellbeing or thriving or flourishing. But whatever we call it, happiness and living a good life are complex and multi-layered.

Which is why, for many years / decades now I’ve emphasised that there’s no secret, at least no ONE secret to happiness.

There are, instead, many things that will improve the quality of our lives, including how we feel and whether happiness is part of that, and the following are just a few of the strategies we should all give due consideration to:

  • it might appear to be cliched, but there’s truth in cliches, so finding joy in the journey (rather than just in the destination) is a crucial part of really enjoying life, every step along the way. And a (relatively) simple shift in perspective can help with that … HERE
  • even if one does find a sense of joy along the way, it’s not as valuable if one’s “walking alone”, which is why taking steps to create purpose and avoid loneliness is also important … HERE
  • and when it comes to friends and connections, there’s little doubt that seeing people in person, in real life, is better than just connecting online (although that’s better than nothing) … HERE
  • many of us “know” all of this, at least we think we know what we “should” do. Yet it’s often easier said than done, especially if we’ve accumulated a range of bad habits over the years. If you’re keen, then, to break out of a rutHERE
  • and finally, if you’re just looking for something a bit different, ways to create more happiness that might just be a bit left field, then … HERE

Whether you label it as happiness or wellbeing or whatever, living a better life is possible. I hope you find something effective in the articles above and I hope you enjoy some more joy as a result!
