Why you should use ALL the navigation apps!

Why you should use ALL the navigation apps!

So, I recently had an interesting conversation with my Uber driver.

At least, it was interesting for me. And not necessarily in the same way it was for him.

Let me explain.

I could see on his screen that he had Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze; as well as the Uber map system. Because I’m curious, I asked him why he had all of them and if he had a favourite.

Over the course of our 20 minute conversation (I know, who would have thought) he explained (and this is the abbreviated version) that the different navigation apps use different criteria for assessing the best path to take and also, different criteria to determine if you’re on track or not. He also noted that they all had different pros and cons, different features, some of which he preferred in certain situations and others he liked at other times.

In short, he took advantage of all of them in a way I thought was pretty impressive.

Which got me thinking … we could apply something similar to the way we think about and approach happiness, and life. We all have different criteria for defining happiness, and a good life, and we all chose, not surprisingly, different paths to get to happiness and success.

None of these are necessarily right or wrong; rather, they all have pros and cons.

But what if we were to use multiple methods, to take advantage of different paths to happiness and different ways of assessing whether or not we’re on track? Would that be advantageous? Would that help us be more resilient?

I think so; and I think it might also help us navigate the ebbs and flows of the messy and complex lives most of us live!

So, give some thought to ALL THE DIFFERENT types of happiness and ALL THE DIFFERENT paths you could take to get there, not to mention ALL THE DIFFERENT criteria you could use to assess whether you’re on track. Take advantage of ALL of it because maybe you could even enjoy MORE DIFFERENT happiness(es)!
