Instead of “New Year, New Me” how about “New Year, REAL me” ?!?!

Instead of “New Year, New Me” how about “New Year, REAL me” ?!?!

There’s a saying that seems to be everywhere around this time of year which is … New Year New Me.

The assumption is that we need to renew, to become new, to change and be different.

While that might be relevant to some, I’m not sure it’s that helpful for many!

You are already you! And much of you that you already are is awesome! We don’t want to change or lose that!!!

Instead, what if you were to aim to become MORE YOU. At least more of the best of you.

How?

Well how about …

  • becoming even clearer about your values and priorities, knowing what’s REALLY important and REALLY making time for it
  • becoming even more clear about who you want to be, and working each day to be that best version of yourself
  • creating a platform that allows you to be the best and real you by taking care of yourself, in whatever ways you need, as often as you need
  • and fuelling all this with a REAL mindset, that’s not toxically positive but that’s also not destructively negative
  • throughout all this, remember that being the real you involves connecting with others; others with whom you feel most you (some might call this … finding your tribe)
  • and rather than seeing the New Year as an opportunity to fix all that’s wrong with you, how about focusing instead on making the most of all that’s right within you!?!?
  • finally, remember that although the phrase is thrown around a lot, being real and being authentic, in some ways being happy, is not as easy as it might sound. So when you get lost, when you stumble and fall, when you fail or freak out or whatever, be kind and gentle with yourself, and bring yourself back to the path you’re wanting to travel as soon as you can

Welcome to 2024 everyone; here’s to a year where reality is wonderful, filled with happiness and unhappiness, success and failure, and all that makes up being real in the real world.
