26 Oct Change takes time; keep changing and keep trying
Like many of you, I’m continually trying to be better.
I typically have a number of goals towards which I’m working, goals that in one way or other will enhance my happiness and the quality of my life overall.
As part of that work towards achieving meaningful goals, there’s pretty much always a requirement for me to change.
Because, if I don’t change then how can I expect my feelings and outcomes to change?
More of than not, these days, the changes I’m trying for are relatively minor. But they still take effort, and they still take time.
Really living a good life, a life of happiness and success, takes effort and time.
And without sounding negative, you never fully achieve it! Because as we progress our circumstances change, life changes, we change and so we need to constantly change our goals and update our definitions which means … happiness and success is an ongoing process, a never ending work of patience and perseverance.
Accepting this is key.
And what’s also key is persistence; because in all my years of experience I’ve noted that too many people give up too early. And as such, when they stop trying, they reduce their chances of enjoying life and enjoying happiness.
So my message today is to keep going. It’s Ok to take breaks and it’s OK to ask for help and it’s OK to change direction and it’s OK to do whatever you need to do AS LONG AS you keep going, in some way or other. It’s not as though you’ll ever really “get there”, at least not fully, but you will get closer and that feeling of making progress is part of what I would call happiness!
