12 Steps to Happiness

Regular readers of my blog and/or listeners to my happy ramblings would be aware of several things including…

  • happiness is something we can choose to have and to increase in our lives

  • achieving happiness requires nothing more than practising a few simple disciplines each and every day

  • there are "disciplines" or strategies that have been proven to work and if we focus on using these we can, very definitely, enjoy a happier and better life

In recent years many books on happiness and positive psychology have been published purporting to promote effective strategies for happiness. Some have done this much better than others and one of the best, in my opinion, has been Sonja Lyubomirsky's "The How of Happiness". 

Recently, the Greater Good website published an article highlighting 12 of Sonja's strategies and we happily share them with you today…

  • learn to forgive

  • practice acts of kindness

  • nurture relationships

  • cutivate optimism 

  • avoid over-thinking and social comparison

  • find a way to be spiritual

  • take care of your body
