01 Apr Happiness is…a long weekend
What can we do to enjoy happiness this Easter long weekend?
With no disrespect intended to those of you who see this coming long weekend as a religious occassion, I propose that the next 4 days can also be an occassion during which we can boost our happiness.
How so? Well, happiness means many different things to many different people but there are a few common factors that we can all benefit from and many of them are relevant to something like a long weekend.
Let me explain myself further…it’s hard to be happy if you’re sick and tired and a long weekend allows us time to rest and recuperate. It also provides us with time to spend with loved ones, family and friends, and there’s no doubt that happy people spend more time cultivating and caring for those who’re important in their lives. Quite obviously, a long weekend allows us to find happiness by engaging in pleasurable activities and although happiness is more than just pleasure, it’s certainly partly pleasure. And finally, an extra day or two away from the busy-ness of work allows us to step back and focus on what’s really important in life, as well as what we have in our lives for which we could be more grateful.
So I hope you all have a great Easter Weekend and I hope you all give some thought to how you can use this time to find more happiness be reflecting on the principles I’ve briefly outlined above and how you can put them into practice in your own lives.
Keep well & keep smiling…Dr. Happy!
