Humans_ã_ ability to form close, stable bonds with others and engage in intimate, fulfilling social interactions has a tremendous bearing upon one_ã_s health, happiness and overall quality of life. Sharing inside jokes, tears and fears, laughter and dreams with another person or group provides a sense of belonging and security. The desire for connection and close identification with others serves as a basic human need, improving levels of self-esteem, development, morale, and mental and emotional health and well-being.
