10 Apr Now is really the only time to live your life
I’m sure you’ve heard about the benefits of living in the present moment. Different versions of present living, approaches to meditation and mindfulness, have been advocated, with good reason, for many years / decades now.
And in contrast to many other approaches promoted within the wellness space, there’s good research to support it with links found between mindfulness and being present AND happiness, health and other positive benefits.
That being said, it’s important to also note that there are benefits to reflecting on the past AND thinking about the future. If we reflect on the past, in a healthy way, and learn form our mistakes (for example) we can grow and develop and improve and move closer to our goals including, for most of us, greater happiness.
Similarly, planning for the future is vitally important. It’s part of goal setting and preparing which are necessary for accomplishment and achievement, all of which are part of the overall strategy needed to live well and happily.
But none of this will probably be new to you. So why am I writing about this topic today?
Well, because you never know what’s around the corner. The future is uncertain and so … all we can do is do the best we can with what we have from where we are.
Savour and enjoy all that’s good; because it might not last.
Know that anything bad in the here and now, probably won’t last, so just hold on and do what you can to cope as best you can.
The present moment is also the only moment in which we can reflect on the past and from which we can prepare for the future.
So BE HERE NOW, so you can learn and live and plan. Be present for all of life’s experiences, the good and the bad, and know that THIS IS YOUR LIFE, and notably, that you’re more than capable of thriving and flourishing no matter what it involves.
