24 Apr Lessons in happiness from … a cutlery drawer!
OK. So I’m sure I’m not the only one who has a drawer in their kitchen, full of cutlery and other cooking implements, that’s a complete mess!
And I’m also pretty sure I’m not the only one who finds looking at the contents of this drawer slightly upsetting.
Finally, I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks at this drawer multiple times each day, gets upset, and then does … nothing about it!
But guess what?
Today I tidied the drawer!!! It took all of 5 minutes and I feel fantastic! I’ve already looked at the drawer several times since and enjoyed wonderful positive emotions (not to mention the other type of happiness I enjoyed when my wife complemented me on my efforts).
So why am I sharing this?
It’s not really about cutlery drawers or tidying, which may or may not bring you distress and then, happiness.
But it is about doing those little things, those little things you know you should do but too often put off, which for very little effort will bring about much happiness!
What’s your version of my cutlery drawer? Whatever it is … do that thing now!
