We are a society that likes to read books about things, says Andrew Ryder, a psychology professor at Concordia University. When the topic is happiness, there is no shortage of material. And when we believe we are in danger of losing that which makes us feel satisfied and happy, we get to reflecting, suggests Lise DubêÑÔ©, an honorary professor of psychology at the UniversitêÑÔ© de MontrêÑÔ©al. “We want to read about happiness, to know more about what it is, to protect what we have, to protect ourselves.”
