18 Jun Happiness Lessons – From the Happiness & its Causes Conference (II)
Happiness and Flourishing
One of the highlights of the Happiness & its Causes Conference was a wonderfully entertaining academic (a sociologist, by training) called Corey Keyes.
Corey is “the flourishing guy”. That is, he coined the term and has frequently written about a form of happiness that’s come to be known as “flourishing”.
Flourishing is the opposite of languishing. Flourishing is living life with meaning and purpose and energy and happiness; languishing is full of misery and illness and worry and lethargy.
Are you living a life with flourishing? Are you doing what you can to experience happiness as opposed to just avoiding misery.
At The Happiness Institute we talk about “playing above the line” (which is another way of saying flourishing)…where do you live and play?
