10 Jan Managing stress at work for more happiness
An hour a week devoted by office workers to on-the-job stress management achieved small but significant improvements in both heart rate variability and arterial blood pressure after a year, researchers here reported.
Workers who took part in the weekly sessions induced arterial systolic pressure by an average of 7 mm Hg (P<0.001) and clear changes in spectral indices of RR variability, reported Massimo Pagani, M.D., of the University of Milan in Hypertension, Journal of the American Heart Association.
If you don’t fully understand that don’t worry – the key message is that managing stress in the work place is good for your heart and that ought to help anyone experience more happiness.
