06 Oct Workers Report Rise in Stress-Related Illness
A recent survey in the UK found that the number of British workers facing health risks through stress caused by a “cocktail” of long hours and pressure to reach targets has increased to 2.5 million.
One in four workers claimed stress had harmful effects on their health. More than half of those employees surveyed complained their workload was too heavy, and 2 out of every 5 reported feeling as though their boss was unreasonable.
Our experience, here at The Happiness Institute, suggests the findings would be pretty similar in Australia. Work makes up such a big part of life for so many of us its sad and distressing to think so many workers are so unhappy in their jobs.
But it doesn’t have to be like that.
