20 Aug Happiness is knowing why fish don’t climb trees!
Good morning all and happy Saturday to you.
This morning I posted this profound quote on Twitter and Facebook…
Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid (Einstein)
And it really seems to have struck a chord!
Why? Because at its heart is, I believe, one of several secrets to happiness. Although it's not really a "secret" because here at The Happiness Institute, and in fact all over the world where positive psychology is being practised and preached, the notion that identifying and utilising our strengths is core to success and to living a good life is widely agreed.
For years now we've had THIS STRENGTHS LIST published and freely available on our site. We've also encouraged people to consider how best to use their strengths via THIS PRACTICAL TIP SHEET.
So give some thought to what's the fish in you and whether or not you should be trying to climb trees!
What could you be doing more of that would energise you?
What are you doing that drains you and, therefore, saps your happiness?
The answers to these (and other, similar) questions will provide clues to finding more happiness! So go to it fish and find the pond or river in which you should be swimming : )
